  Information

Area:
The villa is part of the brand new, exclusive residence, 'Le Domaine du Lac' situated within the beautiful private grounds of the St Thomas Golf and Country Club.

Hugely desirable holiday location, midway between Béziers and Pézenas, just 15 miles from lovely Mediterranean beaches, there is plenty of choice between Sete, Marseillan, Valras and Portiragnes. The water is shallow, clean and safe for young children. Between Sete and Marseillan is a wonderful sandy beach that’s 7km long. Sete on the Mediterranean is known as “Little Venice” because of its criss-crossed canals while Marseillan on the sea lake “Bassin de Thau” has retained much of its original character – a small fishing port. Seafood is a speciality and the Bassin de Thau houses thousands of oyster beds. Nearby Cap d’Agde is a host to yachts and boats with a magnificent port, cafes and restaurants, nightclubs, casino and every watersport imaginable.

Local Information:
Aside from the golf and leisure activities, there is so much to see and do in this fantastic area:

The Renaissance town of Pézenas is 15 mins away.
Pézenas has become a thriving centre for artisans who have many fascinating and delightful shops dotted among the winding streets in the heart of the old village. There are many, many restaurants and pavement café bars to choose from.
The outlying area is awash with vineyards, the Languedoc is one of the largest wine-producing regions in the world, so you can take advantage of the wonderful choice of visits and tasting opportunities that are right on the doorstep.
Pézenas is Molière’s town and everyone’s favourite. A ten minute drive from Bourgade. Buildings date from XIII century and the architecture is stunning. During the summer months there are permanent craft workshops housed in the typical narrow streets. Pézenas is also host to the antique trade (lots of good buys to be had) plus a French « provençal » market on Saturday mornings.

The town of Béziers (8 miles) offers something for everyone.
A huge tree lined boulevard hosts endless cafés and outdoor restaurants as well as an enormous flower market on Fridays.
There are many cultural events throughout the summer, including the spectacular 'Féria' when street markets, musicians and traditional concerts, take over the whole town for four days. This is not to be missed.
Beziers, situated on the edge of the river Orb, has a wine history that dates from Greek and Roman times - an important halt on the Roman road “La voie Domitienne” linking Italy to Spain. During the Middle Ages the town was besieged by the Cathar crusaders where Simon de Montfort declared “ Kill them all, God will recognise his own….". However the town is famous for its part played in the building of the Canal du Midi. Pierre Paul Riquet – the conceptor and a brilliant man, lived in Béziers. It took 12 000 men to build the 240 kilometres canal linking the Mediterranean to the Atlantic and Béziers houses the extraordinary nine locks at Fonseranes. Throughout the XVII and XVIII centuries Béziers prospered from the wine trade and has an imposing arena « arenes » designed with the help of Saint Saens for Opera. It is now famous for its August « Feria » - bullfighting.
Distances:
Half an hour away, you'll find yourself in another world among the stunning gorges and lakes of the Languedoc national park. Superb walking, hiking and river rafting, or gentler watersports and swimming at Lake Salagou.

The delightful, waterside village of Agde (20 minutes) will charm you with its beautiful old painted village houses, winding streets with fascinating shops, superb restaurants and traditional markets.
Possibly the best place to buy fresh fish in the Languedoc. Early-risers can buy straight from the returning fishing boats in the morning.

For those interested in discovering more about the most famous aperitif in the south of France, there are guided tours around the Paul Ricard (pastis) caves in Bessan. Or on a similar theme, visit the caves and museum of Noilly Prat in the spectacular harbour side village of Marseillan (35 minutes). Further afield, the kids will love the huge water park 'Aqualand' in the chic resort of Cap d'Agde.

Major attractions such as Carcassonne, Nîmes, the Cathar castles and the Camargue, are within an easy drive and there are lots of things to do locally. Our nearest towns are Pézenas and Beziers.

Fishing, lake-swimming, windsurfing, riding and are all nearby and for music lovers there is a series of local festivals in the region throughout the summer.

Montpellier the “capital” of Languedoc is 40 minutes drive: excellent museums, a medieval cathedral, an opera, cinemas, and loads of good shops.

In fact, from sports to music and wine tasting to sampling local dishes there is something here for everyone in one of France's most unspoilt regions. For Languedoc is a rare and wonderful place: a precious corner of Western Europe full of great natural beauty, fantastic wines and a fascinating history that has escaped the notice of the hordes.

The Pont du Gard and all the beauties of Provence and the Camargue Regional Park is less than a couple of hours away.

In the other direction, the Spanish border and Barcelona are within easy reach.

Airports: Superb access to the region via the following airports;
Montpellier (only 40 minutes away) Carcassonne, Perpignan and Nîmes (90 minutes).
Toulouse 2 1/4 hours, Rodez 2 1/2 hrs, Gerona (Spain) 2 1/2 hrs.
